Play the video above for a rare Sunday Check-In. Before I head off to the inhospitable climes of North and South California to play a few shows, I took one last balmy stroll along our lovely lake.

The song cover request lines are open in the comments below.

Can you do a Sadies song? Dallas Good was such an incredible musician. 48 is way too young to die. Lonely Guy? Within A Stone? Why Would Anybody Live Here? p.s. that's a beautiful video of your lake.

Saw them many times in Canada and a very small bar, the Village Idiot. Amazing musicians, no idea he passed.

This might sound like a strange one, Jeff...but R.E.M.'s Feeling Gravity's Pull would be an interesting challenge from a solo performance perspective, and also it has cross-currents of tension and release that are lovely and dynamic. I can imagine this in one of your various out-tunings.

"Going to California" I've thought of a few covers recommendations for ya, but after seeing you live a few times I've been educated on how hard some of this stuff is to cover. I was thinking of Joni Mitchell's "California" last time you asked, but then I caught myself and pictured you laughing out loud at the suggestion. Then I listened to that song again and thought better than to expose myself to embarrassment. So, "Going to California" seem on point for your current trip and seems like your voice would be pretty cool to hear with those lyrics. Of course Robert Plant's voice is probably just as impossible to follow as Joni Mitchell's and I totally have my head up my a**. I guess a little bit of knowledge is dangerous. Either way, have a super trip. See you soon in NYC!

Hi Jeff. I’m from the opposite side of the lake originally. I had the same hikes year after year—and similar photos. On a private beach in Michigan. I was thinking of, perhaps, “In Dreams” by Roy Orbison. If it strikes anyone’s (or your) fancy. Stay safe. Keep on keeping’ on.

Perhaps an odd request because I don't know how familiar you are with their music, but Scott Hutchison of Frightened Rabbit was a MASSIVE fan of yours and he said in interviews that you were a hero of his and the artist that he would have liked to collaborate with the most. Ever since he died, I've dreamed of him being able to posthumously collaborate with you in the form of you covering a song of his. I've always thought that the Frightened Rabbit songs "Old Old Fashioned" or "Good Arms vs. Bad Arms" would be perfect for the Jeff treatment :) Just a thought!
