Solid Sound was magical. I fell in love with the place, the people, new to me bands… I felt like something shook loose inside and I got a sweet soul reset. Jeff! I’ve been writing lyrics, every day since! I was so inspired! I’m happy to hear that Susie is on the upswing and I’m glad you are now on the other side of that 2nd hip surgery. Love and deeeep healing to you both. ❤️

Best solid sound yet!!!! Glad to hear you are on the mend. ‘Pain goes in one direction.’ Sounds like some good potential lyrics. ❤️❤️❤️

I liked that too. And then wished grief went in one direction as well...

Warm, healing thoughts and wishes to you and Susie. 💛💛

I JUST finished listening to Saturday’s SS set! I could talk about SS forever and ever, but I already gushed about it on last week’s post from Mark. In order to stop myself from gushing again and sounding repetitive, I’ll just say that there is nothing in the world like SS. I am incredibly grateful to experience its beauty and collective harmony. Thank you Wilcrew and Wilco!

It's great to read that you are recovering and that your wife made the right call to help avoid COVID. Thanks for the excellent cover! P.S. A guy one year ahead of me in high school played for and managed the Cardinals.

Tony La Russa probably got voted into the Baseball Hall of Fame because of that one decision he made calling you in to pitch in the Series! Ha, fantastic dream! Glad you are recovering and had a great Solid Sound. Spencer’s Substack on Mavis Staples was terrific and I loved how he called her grandma. One last thing, if you are looking for a book to read while recovering check out Harlem Shuffle by Colson Whitehead, an amazing writer.

Thanks for the update, cap'n. Glad suzie's numbers are normal again. S.S. was amazing and rain was dealable! Love this tune, I think it's a perfect cover for Autumn Defense too! Get well soon, we are still buzzing from Beacon (3x)> S.S.!!

Ratboys opened for The Decemberists (last night in Oakland)...magical all the way around. Amazing bands from Chicago are making great music.

Your dream reminds me of a story from your memoir, when you told your grade school friends you wrote a Bruce Springsteen song to impress them 😊

So glad you're recovering well.

Very nice cover Jeff. I got a new hip myself three years ago and I feel terrific. Glad you’re having a re-arrival of your health. Wishing you and Susie all the best moving forward.💛💛

I'm glad to hear that Susie is recovering and hope that Ibuprofin is doing the trick for you.

Solid Sound was such a wonderful weekend. I am so grateful that I was able to experience it. I just wish that I'd been able to see everything and everyone I wanted to. Shout out to Topo Chico for their generosity!

Thanks for the song -- it brings me back to SS :)

So glad you and Susie are on the mend! And pain will make you ramble so hope that keeps going in the right direction. Lived in the Lou albeit briefly - back in the day all we had were the Cardinals and the Blues so everyone was a baseball nut. Was shocked when I went to my first Cardinals game and everyone could call out the numbers for the different field positions. Thank you for an amazing SS - the community made it just as special as the wonderful music. BTW you need to ask your husband why there was no Cardinals cap at Antone's in Austin last night :) Of course the Baseball Project was amazing and we were lucky to get that show here.
