What is “I Love…”? I Love… …my bandmates in Wilco. And how they all take the job of being in a stupid rock band with enough seriousness to push forward with gusto, always on the lookout for new ways to challenge ourselves and grow. But not so serious that the whole idea of it isn’t still funny.
Susie - you are so dang funny I can’t get enough!! I hear your humor in my head every day & it makes me smile. Thank you! Jeff - this love section is my favorite. I luv yer heart & your music helps me to survive ♥️
I love when my 10 year old nieces call me out when I put myself down. I love the smell of Tea Tree Oil. I love when the vacuum sucks up a big chunk of whatever is on the floor. I love the crackle sound when you put the needle down on some new vinyl. And I love that moment right before the band hits the stage. And Wilco. I love Wilco.
Jeff, I’m sweating my ballsack off on the rail in Richmond waiting for you! I love this Starship Casual so much! And it’s even better knowing you look at the comments sometimes. Hope it cools off for Sleater Kinney and Wilco!
Lauren... a couple days later and I have consumed over and over, on repeat, anything and everything i can find of yours. I'm kinda in love with your sound, your craft-persons-ship! I can't stop listening. Can not wait for more, and I can not wait until you play Philadelphia. Please play Phila asap. Im all-in for Le Ren!
Dawn light and the dark up-reaching branches of a Hoop Pine silhouetted against the barely blue sky . Hoop Pines.
The dawn chorus…….. kookaburras warming up the show for the main act ….magpies sweet melodious songs with percussion provided by bell bird chimes and the cracking of whip birds interlaced.
Wilco.
The generosity of the Tweedy family, sharing their love and Pyrex. The Pyrex. Oh and The Nuns.
Being able to escape for awhile from the outside world of a country in lockdown and the over riding, palpable feeling of despair settling across fair Oz, into a Starship filled with can-do, hope, humor and melody……
Being given the gift of expressing this way….and knowing this Starship is full of kind and generous souls drawn together by their love of damn fine music.
It's hard to beat a mandarin orange straight out of the refrigerator. I'm looking forward to the Asheville show -- I'm so glad you rescheduled instead of cancelling. That had to be difficult, logistically. I really appreciate the extra work to make it happen. It'll be my kids' first time seeing you guys. (Their names are Piper and Graham, if you'd like to welcome/embarrass them.)
I love waking up this morning thinking about my teenage daughters coming home from their first day of school yesterday and spilling their guts about every detail during dinner. Love.
You're 53 years old and lichrullllly just figured out that oranges are good. Mkay.
I knew they were good. I just didn't know that I LOVE them. It's not a bit!

I love that I can read a sentence like, “Take it down a notch, weather!” and 100% read that to myself in Jeff’s voice. And laugh. ❤️

I have to say, I wasn't too sure about this Substack thing at first, but these posts always make me smile. Thank you. Keep them coming.
