Thank you, Jeff. Really and truly thank you. I’d have no trouble listening to this song a million different ways! And seeing this picture makes me feel less self conscious about insisting that someone take my picture in front of the Marina Towers, which usually drives everyone crazy - so thank you for that, too.
YHF will forever be entwined with my memories of 9/11. To me the record always seemed so apropos of the time as though it was written to address what we were all experiencing. It was a comfort to me to hear it at that time and it still is.
I was in Chicago in 2018 for work, on the last Evening I put in my headphones with Wilco playing and walked by the river coming upon the towers. It was a really cool moment. I’m not really a selfie person so just pics of the buildings and all the great buildings around. I drank a bottle of wine on the steps by the water with a cool couple I met and then took an uber to the hideout to catch a couple of bands. I sat in the front seat with my Uber driver and made him listen to Slobberbone (who later told me they had played the hideout) on the way back to my hotel. It was a fun jam packed last night on my own.
I miss Chicago and so I appreciate the photo. Visiting often from Minneapolis, pre-pandemic, always loved the view of that classic condominium building and also wondered if anyone ever drove their car a little too quickly into a parking space and ended up in the river. Unlikely. But some people just can't help but think worst case scenario. Best case scenario would be strolling about on September 13, past that spot, and bumping into Jeff Tweedy. Pretty exciting it would be, followed by the stress of figuring out what to say. Most likely I would mumble something unintelligible and stumble off. Best case is my lovely wife would save me by saying something brilliant!
Hey Jeff, would ever consider throwing up a guitar lesson on a song like this? It'd be cool to see what yer fingers are doin.
Open D tuning seems right.
Simple and beautiful.
I was thinking the same thing. The simplicity really evokes emotion. I think I may almost prefer this version.

I'm gonna be in Chi-Town next week and fully plan on getting a pic with the towers. :)
I got my pic! Did you?
I did - from many angles! What a gorgeous weekend, huh? I'm seriously in love with that town. :)
Me too. And another pic I’m sure!

I can't imagine a reality in which I could enjoy this song more.
This would be a great addition to "Together At Last Volume II"
