Chit-Chat Check-In #79

Hello, this is your Captain speaking. It’s Super Bowl Sunday, that’s what I’m told. I have tallied the results of all your requests, and opted to do an acoustic version of “King of You” from the album Star Wars. Which was an unlikely favorite. Or at least it got two votes.

It’s a weird song. It’s from a period of songwriting when I was very suspicious of meaning and wanting to write in a more automatic style. I was kind of fed up with things being serious, and a lot of Star Wars is meant to be nonsense. And I think succeeds [laughs]. Because nonsense is good for us. I dare AI to be as good at nonsense as humans. So that’s the thought, I guess, for that.

I apologize for the back-to-back-to-back Chit Chat-Check-Ins. It feels kind of lazy. I’m not trying to be lazy. I think writing hurts my hip for some reason. I’m just kidding. It doesn’t.

My hip is recovering—I'm recovering from my hip surgery—which is slow, and hopeful, and kind of painful again. But it’s going to be great. No narcotics, so that’s the challenge, I think, compared to maybe a non drug addict recovering from surgery. 

So anyway, I hope you enjoyed this weird little version of a weird little song. And go team, whichever team it is that you care about. Maybe you’re there for the commercials, I don’t know. I’m going to refrain from commenting on anything controversial. I learned my lesson with the Dolly debacle.
