Low energy chit-chats are also ok. Just… carry on Captain.

Thanks for stopping by our little town of Lexington last night! Quite a rowdy crowd indeed - strange for us I think, especially in such a theatrical setting. Glad you (claim to have) had a good time. You're clearly making progress with your pre-show zen meditations though. Might wanna stay away from soft shelled crabs in landlocked states tho. That just won't end well as you can attest.

But we had a blast, and loved every minute of it!

Don't be a stranger!

I think I have been a rowdy attendee before, I should have “checked myself before I wrecked myself”. Sometimes music takes hold of me and I can control it. I'll be better at future shows and try to be less of a distraction 🤦🏼‍♀️

Rowdy like talking to much? Too much bourbon my guess lol

yeah, like weird heckling / commenting / attempted engagement.

and yeah, the local lubricant was plentiful. ("Do they just hand out shots at the door?" - jt)

Jeff, don’t worry about the “low energy” check in. This just confirmes that everyone cycles through periods of up and down, even accomplished songwriter-musicians we admire.

I hate it when I forget that "Passenger Side" is not in drop-D tuning. :) By the way, listening to the YHF box has been great. I'm about three discs in and have read most of the book(let). Great insights. It strikes me that you strive to be as fair as possible about Jay Bennett and his contributions to the record. It's very interesting to hear how the songs evolved from the early versions to the Tweedy/Kotche/O'Rourke takes. Thanks for sharing.

Drop D will get ya! Thanks again for the constant inspiration to keep creating and keep on moving forward. I really appreciate these posts.

I love the “Lifetime To Find” video. This video has made me laugh out loud. Every time I watch it I laugh and realize life is too short to sweat the small stuff. Thank you for sharing this art. Art and creativity and some laughter mean so much right now. It must be emotionally draining to be an artist traveling the world during these volatile times. What you do means so much to so many. Thanks for persevering and thank you for your art.

I love the video too!

I recently was at two shows back to back. At the shows, I obviously heard lots of great Wilco songs but I noticed a few covers sprinkled in here and there. I wonder if those shows will be available on the website. I would looove to hear them again.

If you are reading this JT, I’d be over the moon, try to lasso a star, or even swim across a river to hear them again 😉💞💖🌟💫🥰

This check in is giving me anxiety. The poster, the hotel room intrusion and missing the deadline for the swag level prizes. “I hear it happens all the time” makes me feel worse. I hope you all have a better day. 🕉 Breathe Peace ✌️

Ya need to move the cabinet in front the the door. That was super creepy.

Very interesting low energy chit-chat session Jeffy! I hope you found out why that person was able to get into your room and put a stop to it! Yes, we all need the reminder to fill out your required info so we have access to great stuff in the future! Carry on Captain!

As with many others, I’m sure, the instructional poster brings back disturbing images from my childhood. In the south, not only were we supposed to hide under our desks in case we were bombed by foreign countries, we were also hyper cognizant of avoiding windows when the tornado sirens sounded. Kids (and adults) today shouldn’t have to deal with the added threat of domestic terrorism. Geesh. When will we coordinate a plan to prevent this from happening in the first place? Wishing everyone safe travels!

I remember having to seek shelter under our desks during the Cold War. When I watched the movie, The Day After, I remember thinking how foolish it was to think that was going to save our asses in the event of a nuclear bomb being dropped. I can't help but think of how terrified people in the Ukraine are feeling right now, especially the children. Breaks my heart.

I so very much want to weigh in on the poster, and all that it means, but I have to bite my tongue (fingers?) and sit this one out as a foreigner. And besides, it would be preaching to the converted. Starship crew are good people who aren't part of the problem.

I’m so glad I found this Starship crew! I’ve been struggling lately, like really struggling.

This space is a breath of fresh air and an outlet where I can be myself without fear and reservations.

God bless you all 💞💖

I'm a teacher and doing those drills with elementary students brings on so much stress and anxiety for them and me. It's a sad state of affairs when this is a new normal and a part of going to school, a place where you should feel safe and loved. 😢

Expand full comment

I cannot imagine how hard these situations are to manage with the students and how challenging is now to be a teacher in America. All my support from here and I hope that at some point politicians will finally take measurements to guarantee gun control and to make public spaces like schools safe again

Amen! It truly is shocking. If you think about how actions speak louder than words, then our current way of thinking is guns are more important than human life. It’s also wild to me that one solution is to arm teachers-this is coming from the same folks that think teachers are indoctrinating and brainwashing kids for some sort of liberal agenda 🤯 weird

I just got into elementary education 6 years ago and the first active shooter presentation I went to a man said to us that we should throw staplers at the man with the automatic weapon shooting at us and I just looked at him and thought, “What the fuck is wrong with us?”

Yeah, that sign would throw me off, too. (Meaning, I wonder if the little mistake with your guitar tuning was perhaps connected to the jarring poster and the huge elephant in the room that it reminded you of. ) I hate this world, sometimes....it truly is a "Cruel Country." Thanks SO much for being here, for being present, and staying connected. You amaze me, and I'm sure all of us! Love...and Peace. *prayer hands* (I'm on my computer keyboard....)
