Listen now | Hey bud, your sun-dappled disguise ain’t gonna help you much if you’re lounging in the middle of the trail. Ever heard of a MOUNTAIN BIKE?! I think if I’m afraid of them you should be too. This guy too! Right in the middle of the road. Insanity! ★★— Just ok. We were looking for a sunset and this is all we could find. Prompt service (as advertised). Still missing something… a few more clouds maybe? Too orange-y? Would still recommend in a pinch.
I got my long lost lyric book in the mail yesterday and was as giddy as a little kid. Thank you!!
Also, just wondering if you could let us know your thoughts about what it meant to be recognized by Michelle Zauner as her favorite songwriter of all time. I mean, that was above and beyond in terms of appreciation. I’ve recently become completely enamored with her work, thanks to your bringing her to our attention, and that level of praise from such a talented soul must be really heartwarming. Watching the two of you together on the Pitchfork livestream was pure delight.
If you’re looking for a tune to do a cover of, I was recently listening to World Party and thinking how great they are. A cover of Is It Like Today, would be cool to hear. If you’re looking for a more recent artist, I’d love to hear you interpret a Big Thief song. Of course, my request for Killing Moon by Echo and the Bunnymen still stands.

Star Wars is such a fuckin great album ... that is all. BTW, I was at the dentist this morning (Oregon City) near that recording studio you guys have been to out here, and they were playing the Cruel Country album. What a treat!
How about Save it for a Rainy Day by the Jayhawks? Think your voice would be perfect.
Anyways, you are out pounding the trail so I hope your hip issues are getting better. Thank you and the crew for coming to Northern Michigan this summer as the new album drops. You guys are a class act for coming to the Interlochen Music Academy. Bravo!
"There Is A Light That Never Goes Out" by The Smiths. Sure, Morrissey is really problematic-especially recently. But damn this song is great and I think you could bring it back to the good people.
Related to covers (but of your songs), I just got home from Indiefjord festival in the wilds of Norway's fjord-lands and an performer there (Runar Bjørkvik Mæland) played a cover of Jesus Etc. It was an unexpected and pleasant surprise for a far from home Chicagoan!
Hey! I’d love to hear you cover a Joe Henry song. I don’t want to be too presumptuous and pick one for you. Maybe you have a favorite? Maybe you’re just not that into him lol. I have a pretty decent photo of you playing Hardly Strictly in SF when we were both much younger - wish I could post it. Keep on hiking! I love your book on writing BTW - it’s my go-to gift for my young friends who want to be writers or musicians and they’ve loved it too. I go back to it a lot in my own work. Great job exploring/explaining the creative process.

How’s the hip? I hope it’s feeling better.

Well, I must insist: Raspberry Beret by Prince. 🤷♂️
“hey bud, your sun-dappled disguise ain’t gonna help you much” - should be the first line of an new song.

I’m naming both critters Wédasé. It’s Potawatomi and means brave & courageous. Fitting for both I think!

I'm gonna put Calling Cards by Neko Case back on the covers table...
Would love to hear a cover of “Don’t Walk Away Renee”, such a brilliant song. Hope you will consider it. Carry On!

That turtle and that sunset are sensational!!
I cannot wait to get my lyric book! Thank you for the check-in.
Song request: Bob Dylan Lay Down Your Weary Tune...I know...I keep trying
Thanks for the update Jeff, and for your concern regarding terrapin preservation.
Cover request: “Everbody’s Talkin’” by Harry Nilsson. Best, Bob.
How about a cover of Lucy Dacus' "Hot & Heavy"?
How about a classic like Pancho and Lefty?
