Thank yoU for this!!!

Your song...not sure if it made it on Cruel

Country and for the life of me I cannot remember its name (or working title) right now but goes something like

: there is no middle in the other side

we’d rather kill than compromise

adjust your eyes to the light... :

That song is Hints and it’ll be on Cruel Country. It even has a French horn on the track! Lyrics & liner notes are available on WilcoWorld.

Solid request. I second this Neko request. Enjoyed Jeff’s written contribution to Neko’s new compilation for the tune Furnace Room Lullaby. Love when beautiful worlds collide!

Can't Sink This Town - Freedy Johnston cover

Expand full comment

I love Freedy so much I am willing to correct autocorrect (“Freddy”) the half dozen times it takes to get his name right. But I’d suggest something off Can You Fly :)

This Perfect World would be my personal favorite. The first four songs are just perfect!

That is also a wonderful record. Bad Reputation would be interesting as cover material...

Elvis Costello and Wilco are probably my top 2 bands (with some obscure Canadian ones thrown in for good measure). Both acts collaborate with others quite a bit but I've found it curious you've never seemed to have crossed paths. Maybe a Costello tune? (If you guys are not beefing...)

And "What's So Funny..." is Nick Lowe, so NO CHEATING.

I'm beginning to think you're not going to do Killing Moon by Echo and The Bunnymen. How about Random Act of Kindness of the new Kevin Morby album, This is A Photograph? The chord harmonies in that song are drilling into my subconscious.

If you’re going to share a song off of Cruel Country, I’d love to hear I Am My Mother. If you’re going to do a cover, I’d love to hear Squeeze’s Is That Love?

Thank you for live-streaming Solid Sound! Greatly appreciated!

Would love to hear your take on anything Townes Van Zandt.

I totally agree, and Jeff, also, love the lacey thing on the Cruel Country Album!

I’m thinking Alone Again Or would be appropriate based on that CCCI! But I was just listening to Margaritas at the Mall by Purple Mountains. Any Purple Mountains would be great! Thanks Jeff!
