Listen now | I hate year-end lists. Because I hear so many things I love every year and always know I’m forgetting something important. And I hate the idea of someone who put out something I love looking at this and thinking their album’s absence means I didn’t enjoy it.
I have not paid nearly as much attention to new music this year as I normally do. I love that I now have a place to start digging in on my week off. I am very much looking forward to Largo but obviously what I want most is for everyone to be safe and healthy. ❤️
A fan, like me, of Marisa Monte? I’m glad. Did you know Rolling Stone Brasil voted her second-best female singer in Brasil. Elis Regina is/was first. Também, my favorite songs are still her slow ones: Carinhoso, Bem Que se Quis, Amor I Love You. However, my forever loves will be Maysa and the magnificent Marina Lima. Criança, etc. etc. However, it stymies me how she still has shows—and has no voice left. A koan.
Thanks for the list! Great to get to explore some things I missed. Fingers crossed for SBS and Solid Sound. And I loved your take on Get Back on the Tweedy Show. Never thought I could be re-mesmerized, yet again, by The Beatles- so fascinating and good! Happy Birthday Tweedy sons!
Liam Kazar! "Shoes Too Tight" was my most played track on Spotify last year, and Due North was in the top five. PS, did you listen to Glen Echo by Azita?
Thanks for your list. Here are some recommendations from my side. I am sure you will like Sierra Ferrell and Charley Crocket. And all the best wishes for you and your family.
So much good here! Happy birthday, Sammy! I don't know if it's a southern thing, but the older ladies in my family used to say "He/She is so cute I could eat him/her with a spoon!!" That's what popped into head when I saw that adorable snap of Sammy - guess it's official - I'm an older southern lady. :) Annnd I can't wait to check out this list, hear your new song + see ya in San Francisco. Merry, merry Fa La La Tweedy's!
Always like your recommendations. The 4 not listed that came immediately to mind we’re Adia Victoria, Big Red Machine, Valerie June and Parquet Courts.
What a treasure this list is! Happy Birthday, Sammy. 22 is the new 19. 😉 Love & happy holidays to all.
Parquet Courts, Courtney Barnett, and Leon Bridges

I'm admit I'm a bit angsty about finally getting tickets for Largo, while sitting at home waiting on test results...ugh.

Really looking forward to the Fillmore shows and SBS… and really hoping they can be pulled off without incident! Stay safe friends.
I just got an email today saying the Fillmore shows were rescheduled for Feb.
Well, you missed Flock of Dimes-Head of Roses. We'll forgive you...
