Chit-Chat Check-In #126 Transcript

Hello, this is your Captain speaking, at the Jones Beach Amphitheater with Wilco. About to begin a series of shows for the next few days with my buddy Bob and Willie, Lucinda. It’s an Outlaw tour. But, yeah, pretty fun, looking forward to to seeing everybody.

And in the meantime, here’s a version of “One Tiny Flower” off the record that’s coming out in September, the solo record. We shared the album track I guess a couple weeks ago now and, hold onto your socks, this one’s a little bit of a banjo improvisation on the song. You know, just getting at the crux of the song with a goddamn banjo. So I’m just gonna leave it with that. I don’t know what else to say.

Banjo playing’s still kinda sketchy. And I’m also doing a style I don’t normally do, which is sort of a clawhammer style but not, you know, [I’m] just sort of faking it. I can do the bluegrass style a little more efficiently lately but I’m still not ready to share too much of that for good reasons. Carry on.
