Hello from the buzzing hive of the Wilco Loft control room, AKA the Starship Casual Bridge, where we’re working on music and getting ready to attend a baseball game played by [REDACTED FOR THE SAKE OF SOUTHERN ILLINOIS FRIENDS AND FAMILY].
I have an odd duck of a song for you today. “Country Mile,” formerly known (in my phone and to us in the control room) as “Blewz.” When you listen, I think you’ll see why I was inspired to name it “Blewz.” It has a twisted Mississippian riff that I think Alan Lomax could have recorded in an alternate timeline of America, one where bespectacled weirdos like me ended up sitting on porches with their heroes.
Anyway, we recorded it some years ago, I’m not sure exactly when. And I’m glad I have a place to share a song like this and talk about it with you lovely people before it finds its home somewhere else down the road.
