how about we do a starship casual community cookbook like my parents' church used to do? i made a weirdly good banh mi salad last night that i think y'all might like
What recipe are you going to contribute? I'm on day 3 of trying to eat healthier so I'm getting to the part where all I want to think about is what food I'd rather be eating that this plate of baby carrots.
Then we could do a Starship potluck when we all have perfected our recipes enough to want to share them!! What a deal! Did you guys realize the Starship had a Control Room before? & Jeff does resemble a cat burglar in a way!!
if we're going with the recipe thing, my favorite albums were Big Thyme, Cruel Country Fried Steak, This is a FoieGrasgraph, and Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In Yougurt
Anything close is a good start (plus there has to be a cocktail with that name!…I’m one of those people if they can’t figure out the lyric I make it up. So please help!
This sounds wonderful. I am a vegetarian, but I am always amazed at the advances in plant-based meat substitutes so I have some wonderful ideas for subbing in for the kielbasa. We will figure out a way to get this to the world
Happy New Year to the Captain and his loyal crew! What is this Loft surveillance, though? That doesn’t seem very punk rock to have “The Man”keeping tabs on you, or sending cards to an elite tier. But if we’re gonna have some surveillance, then I request more behind-the-scenes images of what Crystal and Mark’s days are like when at the office, especially Crystal. She should have a “Crystal’s Corner” segment on the Starship, IMHO, where she could recommend books or such. Make her record one! As for Largo requests, maybe Jeff should play Out For A Walk (aka Circumcised) again...and again...and again...😜
If I may, I've been hoping you might do a cover of the old Bobby Womack record "It's All Over Now." You may remember it as a Stones hit back in the day. Would love to hear a Tweedy take on this old gem. Happy New Year, Jeff, and All The Tweedys!❤
I am glad that other people enjoy holidays, so I can't completely say that I hate them, but I do wish I could opt out. It would break my mother's heart, however, so I keep going to all the family parties year after year. I don't do well when I have to stop my usual routines.
Starship LoftCam 24/7 — membership exclusive for 2023. Tiered access for freaks, geeks, and creeps (platinum status enables all access). It’s “moichendising” in the starship-digital age.
If taking Largo suggestions, I’d love to hear “You Are Not Alone” on Friday night as our captain playing it on one of the first Tweedy Shows was very meaningful in those early days of the pandemic. But Randy Newman’s “I Love LA” would be fun singalong, too!
Happy New Year, Jeff, Mark, Crystal and the entire crew (the clients, as you like to call us -- so transactional). There is really nothing I could suggest to make this site better. It's great exactly the way it is. Thanks for everything. Leaving for Iceland in exactly 3 freaking months!
Made it! Won’t be in L.A. but have a blast. Lovin the ride, always a nice treat. Here’s a suggestion...maybe a little Tuscaloosa Neil HERE WE ARE IN THE YEARS? Either way, this is fun.
Mark is amazing and super generous - many years ago he helped coordinate a JT signature of a poster for my wife what was signed by the rest of the band in Oregon - just needed one more. I sent it to some crazy place in Chicago and it came back signed. The missing scribbled puzzle piece probably saved my marriage - Thanks again Mark! You are a gem of a human.

Sounds fun. And delicious. We will take a look at how we might be able to facilitate.
“Pecan Pie, candy left over from Halloween, and other tasty rations from the Starship Casual mess hall”
A nice concise title.
And of course “Wilco will love your Dutch baby.”
"I dreamed about key lime pie again last night and it felt alright to me"
Theologians don’t know nothing about my soul food. Sorry once I get started, I can’t stop.
I read that as “I can’t soup.” 😂
A Gut Is Born
This is the winner 😂😂😂
Don’t Forget the Flour
:)
I absolutely love community cookbooks. The weirder the better.

Curried yellow split pea soup, probably. That's my favorite invented recipe.
Woah

Great idea! :)
Holy fuck! We are getting old! Could we start with favorite music releases of 2022?
if we're going with the recipe thing, my favorite albums were Big Thyme, Cruel Country Fried Steak, This is a FoieGrasgraph, and Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In Yougurt
Love this idea!
I'd kick in a cajun-style recipe for this for sure.
Great idea!
Ooh! With our recipes plus the band and all their families contributing a recipe? Fun!
Possible title…album/cookbook:
COOKIN' WITH WILCO AND THE KING: THE LEGENDARY dBpm Records COOKBOOK ALBUMS (2-LP)
What Wilco songs have mention of food or beverages in them…cherry soda, beer, shot, pecan, pie, gum?
not sure this is a food, but thought of "I'm a cherry ghost" from Theologians?
Anything close is a good start (plus there has to be a cocktail with that name!…I’m one of those people if they can’t figure out the lyric I make it up. So please help!
Possible great idea, Steven!!
daggum that sounds kind of great. Even if we don't end up with a cookbook I'd like to figure out a way to get my hands on that recipe.
I love this idea!

Your soup sounds yummy!
Just write the recipe here so we all can try it
🙂🥣
I'd really love a starship t shirt. Even if we had to buy it. Something for members only. Also, loved this check in...it made me laugh. Thanks!

"I'm gladder" was the laugh I needed. Thx, Starship Casual crew!

A suggestion box is a good idea.
A cover of Nick Cave's "The Mercy Seat" would be intense and amazing. (Johnny Cash tried!)
I just found that record on vinyl yesterday!

This is a funny suggestion!! 👍🏻✅🤘
If you play Everlasting Everything at Largo, I will die.
Thank you so so much for playing it, Jeff. I died. It felt great.

[Oh: Happy Birthday Nels!! (Tomorrow) 🥳😎🤘🤘🤘 You rock nonstop until the break o’ dawn.]
If he reads this....🤘🎸

“I’m gladder”...and I’m glad I wasn’t drinking milk when I heard that!
How about a starship casual great hikes link.
At some point, we all seem to end up in the same city. Maybe we should figure out where the best most rewarding walks are.
You never know who you might meet on the trail
Thoughts ?!?
