There's a human INSIDE THE MASCOT?!?!?!

Expand full comment

I have it on good authority that there is another mascot inside the mascot.

Expand full comment

I heard Gavin McCloud the mascot inside the mascot and is dressed as Captain Merrill Stubing.

Mark, do you write on substack on your own “page”?

Expand full comment

I’m serious Mark, but I assume that means no, but do you have a website? Sorry to be a pain!

Expand full comment

aww, thanks! No, not on SS but on IG. I tend the Loft IG page as well as pages called FONTS OF THE LOFT and LOFT RELICS.

Mark, quick question…was CC recorded on analog tape? Just wondering if I should continue to wait for LP. **I don’t have instagram**

Jeff!!! A few nights ago in Indy...then last night in Newport 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🚀🌕

You guys kicked ass, yet again!! As I sit here in my classroom, trying my best to cope with re-entry after 2 phenomenal nights, I am just completely lost in my thoughts and pure euphoria from last night. It was magic. Pure magic.

One of my absolute favorite things about being on the rail is witnessing the connection and joy of the band. Watching your smiles to each other and interactions together is beautiful. The band’s joy and energy is obvious and contagious. There is no place like a Wilco show. There is no better place than on the rail at a Wilco show. Leaving the show last night, the entire audience was shaking with happiness, excitement and gratitude. There was a powerful buzz that took my breath away. The power of music, the power of Wilco’s music changes lives and helps so many different people, in so many different ways. I hope all of Wilco has a clue how powerful your music and live experiences are to us.

✨Thank you ✨to all of you and the entire Wilcrew for making all of the magic possible. ✨ Thank you ✨ Thank you ✨

I couldn't agree more. Being on the rail at a Wilco concert is my time in life when I feel the most 'me' I could possibly be. Hope you understand what I mean....

Expand full comment

Yes! Yes! I completely understand.

It is absolute.

I want everyone to have experiences that make them feel nothing, except that exact moment they are in. Free of all desires and suffering. Just complete peace within the exact time they are experiencing.

Hope they return to Australia sometime so I can go see them!

I hope so, too!!

All of this!! We are SO lucky!

Last night at Interlochen Music academy. Far Northwest Michigan, small arts school venue. I still can’t believe they came here, such class acts, literally!

Dusty, that is such a wonderful and accurate description! I am still on cloud nine. We had the rail in front of Pat, our first ever on the rail. It was simply magical! The set list was sooo good too. Easily the best concert experience of my life! We didn't want to leave, so we stood there breathing in all that wonderful energy. Thank you Wilco!!!

I love this, Dan! Love it!

My friends and I were probably right next to you then. We were between Jeff & John.

Expand full comment

That’s my favorite spot too!

I think you saw my FB post about the 2 little girls on the rail. Meeting that family was icing on the best cake ever! Isn't it wonderful that Wilco brings us all together to experience such joy!

Expand full comment

Yesssss and yesssss! Incredible!

I loved seeing those little girls walk in when they got there!

Any suggestions on getting tickets on the rail? Asking for a friend ;)

Expand full comment

Depending on the venue(some don't have a rail) GA tickets, get there super early, and bring at least 1 friend to hold your spot for restrooms and drinks.

Expand full comment

Doh! Sorry that makes sense. I was thinking of somehow having been able to buy front row seats but “rail” and GA seats makes total sense to me now. Thanks and congrats on the fantastic experience-envious!!

That buzz is what got me through after the Indianapolis show and kind of forced me to the Newport show. Next time we should’ve carpool, lol. My car only gets me where I’m going on prayer these days. Tonight it’s Jack White, but then … Philco @sacred rose. Are you in? 😆🤞🏼😁

Expand full comment

Did they already play the vineyard? Hop on the ferry!

I wish! I wish!!

Expand full comment

I’m always in for carpooling! I’m from Cleveland, so I stayed the night in Indy with a friend who drove in from MO, drove home the next day and then drove down to KY and back right after the show. Sacred Rose I wish, I wish...unfortunately, I can’t go! I’m sooooo bummed!! Have a blast and enjoy every second of tonight and Sacred Rose!

Dusty, it sounds like you would have been or were a Deadhead.

Expand full comment

I love the dead, but unfortunately, they were the one group my mom would never let me see in high school!! It wasn’t the group as much as the crowd I wanted to go with I guess...anyway, then I turned 18 the year jerry died. So I never experienced the actual Grateful Dead live. Just variations of it, post jerry.

The Pirates are so bad they need you to do more than throw out the first pitch. You'll get the start also.

Hey Captain! Used to work at WYEP in Pittsburgh and immediately forwarded this on to my friends at the station, who have friends at the Pirates and have already been in touch with your folx. Hope it works out soon. Back in Chicago now and happy to be a local client.

My White Sox need to get on it and invite you to throw out the first pitch at Comiskey!

Two thumbs up from this Ohio-born fan who recalls the heyday of Johnny Bench and The Big Red Machine. I hope the Pirates heed your call.

That’s such a cool picture! I have one of your first-pitch baseball cards. Want to sign it for me the next time I’m at a show?

Did anyone get a photo of you actually pitching--and maybe taking out the mascot at bat?
