Chit-Chat Check-In #92 • Audio transcript
Hello, this is your Captain speaking. I’m doing some relaxation and recuperation exercises outside of the city, keeping my leg elevated some of the time, at least. Alternating between Tylenol and Naproxen, both of which I heartily say do nothing. But things are getting better.
I thought since Wilco released an EP at Solid Sound, Hot Sun Cool Shroud, I would do a solo acoustic version of one of the songs. There are some songs on the EP that seem really obvious for a solo acoustic version. “Annihilation” probably isn’t the first one that comes to mind, but it was a fun challenge to figure out how to play and incorporate the solo.
As some of you know, we released Hot Sun Cool Shroud with a placeholder cover. We had a do-it-yourself art center at the festival where people could design and decorate their own versions using stamps and stickers we made with the artist Kathleen Ryan. Afterward, people could submit their cover for consideration as the official art that will come out later this year.
People designed a lot of really, really fun covers. You can see some of them below. And you can hear the solo acoustic version of “Annihilation.”
That’s it, carry on. And, you know what? I’m just gonna go ahead and say it. I love you all. OxO—Jeffy
