Listen now | Loosely based on the traditional ballad O’ Death. Recorded on my phone Jan. 17, 2021. In the future, unreleased demos will be available behind the paywall.
Wow. What a song to find on your phone! I heard my wife playing this downstairs and I dropped what I was doing (you know, making a living) to walk down the steps and give it a listen. Sure wish I could find songs like this on my phone. Time to trade mine in. Piece of junk.
So sorry. Had to put down our Henry (German shepherd mix) in June just short of 12yrs. He visited me in a dream last night. I shed tears telling my wife this morning.
Mark, I'm so sorry for your loss. Our beloved 13 yr old labradoodle, Hazel, died suddenly 2 weeks ago and it hit me so much harder than the loss of my father last year. There are no words for dealing with the loss of a beloved pet. Sending you big, big hugs.
It's tough to lose a doggy pal. We had to put down one of ours not long ago, a sweet dobbie shepherd. Our boys still talk a lot about him. Good boy, Robbie.
This sounds so familiar. I think you sang it on an episode of the Tweedy Show, right? It’s beautiful, in any case. Including the very recognizable throat clearing at the end.
I don’t think you ever end up with the life you had in mind. You have to change your mind to match your life. It goes back and forth until you find a compromise.
Love this gem of a tune Jeff, very much appreciating the content here already. When I listen back to the songs I've recorded on my phone I tend to curl up into a "fetal position of embarrassment" for 35 to 44 minutes. Eventually it passes.
If you've read Jeff's book, and I'm sure you have, you know you need to give yourself permission to be embarrassed! And keep writing, one song at a time.
If you spent any time watching the Tweedy show this year, subscribe. I tear up when I think about the generous spirit of this quirky family that invited us into their home, raw and unfiltered, for 200 shows!
This song really got to me today when listening to the new album on repeat. I laughed, I cried, and I marveled at the brilliance behind the unique and evocative phrasing that I enjoy in your songs. Thank you.
I bought a subscription when this went live, but I’ve neglected to stay up to date. New year, new resolve to catch up (and stay caught up). Anyway, this is beautiful.
This one’s hitting hard right now. My Mom is fighting stage 4 lung cancer.
Sending positive vibes to your Mom.
Thank you Casey. 🧡
Sending you and yours thoughts of love and peace.
Thanks Dusty
Sending strength to you and your Mom

well - thanks for the song - but the timing is poignant as we are putting down our 17 year old cockapoo "Joey" in a couple of hours.

Good boy…indeed
So sorry to hear... Much love to you guys
Peace and love to you and yours.
It takes a lifetime of writing to write songs this clear and honest
Note to Jeff: Please don't lose your phone! :)
As long as he backs recordings to the cloud we’re all good!

I also think Jeff sang it on TTS, back when we didn’t know what was going on.

So wise. Thank you, Kathy. I'm going to write this down and post it in my home.

Do you know if there is a place where people are sharing their songs inspired by Jeff’s book? A client song swap/writers group would be cool.
Hey Dan, Here's where I hared mine. Would be great to see more tunes up there.

First I hared it, then I shared it.
Cool. Enjoyed your song. Hope you write more.
Yeah hoping for more songs. Feeling lonely
True words Steve!
That's a good one for sure... I'm so conditioned to hear Susie at the end now. But in a good way. Loved it...
Me, too!
Thank you, Jeff. truly remarkable.
Am seriously thinking about subscribing

You should!
Great song! If I get a paid subscription, will these be downloadable? Doesn't specify in descriptions...
That was a treat!! Lovely ❤️
The gift that keeps on giving!
