Sammy is 23 today! He’s a mensch. Based on our (Susie’s and my) children’s birthdays, one could extrapolate a solid theory about the lulls in Wilco’s mid-to-late 90’s touring schedules.
We sing together a lot. And over the last few years, Sammy has been a member of the band that tours with me when I play my solo records live. (The Tweedy band, as we call it. Natch.) At the end of our shows we often cut loose with a few covers. And when Sammy steps up front to sing lead he always steals the show. So here he is stealing the show with Neil Young’s “Helpless.” Love you Sammy. Happy Birthday*!
*Let’s also give Susie a round of applause. Because let’s face it, Sammy doesn’t even remember the day he was born. But I sure do. And let me tell you, Susie did all of the heavy lifting. Same goes with Spencer’s birthday last week.
