I wrote this song for Mavis to sing after she talked about missing her father one day when we were in the studio together. The title comes from a sweet and funny story she often tells about how her brother Pervis would always recite John 11:35 when called upon to quote from the bible during grace at a family meal. “Jesus wept” — the shortest verse in the bible.

I sing this now missing my own father along with my mother and brother and many others. I know this time of year is tough on a lot of people. Sending this song to anyone out there struggling with the loneliness of the season. OxO
