Hello, everybody. Wilco is back on our bullshit. We played Milwaukee on Wednesday and Chicago this weekend. It was such a beautiful night outside at Salt Shed on Friday, I couldn’t believe it. I’m conditioned to expect weather extremes. Thunderstorms, 100% humidity, scalding heat, etc. But it was what I’d call a perfect Chicago crisp (new apple?).
The solo/family/Tweedy band rehearsed in Chicago earlier in the week. I thought you might like to see a short clip of our rehearsal. And below, you’ll also find a new solo version of “In a Future Age.” Not necessarily a deep cut but one that I was reminded of while re-learning songs for the Deep Cuts set.
This Week in Wilco, Etc.
1992 / June 11: The second of only four Coffee Creek shows happens at Cicero’s Basement Bar in St. Louis. Coffee Creek was largely a cover band that consisted of Jeff, Jay Farrar, Brian Henneman, and Mike Heidorn. Coffee Creek, then credited as Uncle Tupelo with Brian Henneman, produced and released a cover of Merle Haggard’s “Movin’ On,” which appears on 1992’s 20 More Explosive Fantastic Rockin’ Mega Smash Hit Explosions! on Pravda Records.
2024 / June 12: Wilco’s Tour to Infinity rolls into Milwaukee for a show at the Riverside Theater. Cut Worms opens.
2013 / June 14: Wilco opens for Paul McCartney at the Bonnaroo festival in Manchester, TN. During the 19-song set, they are joined by Calexico for “California Stars” and “I’m the Man Who Loves You.”
