Chit-Chat Check-In #115 • Transcript
Hi from I-64. Sammy, Spencer, and I are on our way to Charleston to join the rest of the Tweedy band, play Mountain Stage, and induct Daniel Johnston into the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame.
In honor of Daniel, here are two versions of “Walking the Cow.” This is one of Daniel’s more well-known songs. It’s been covered by a few people. I recorded one version with a guitar pick and one played with my thumb. They sound different… because one has a pick and one has a thumb. Which makes you sing differently, too.
If you don’t want to listen to both versions, I think I prefer the thumb one. But maybe that’s just because it’s the first one I did.
We love Daniel. We love his art. We’re honored to celebrate him this weekend.
