I wish I could attach a photo. Just saw the San Antonio show and it was great to see Spencer play and hanging side stage for Wilco after. ❤️ Two great sets
Oh, Mr. Jeffy, I am so down with your wish for a society that rewards “a culture of curiosity and growth.” Like, that’s the expectation, that’s the goal, that’s the way forward. Imagine everyone having enough of a sense of safety and encouragement to keep asking questions of the world and of themselves.
I enjoyed the Q&A, as I’m still buzzing from seeing y’all last night in Irving. I was in town visiting my sister and BIL, and I talked them into going with me. Of course they loved it!!! Such a nice reminder of how fun it is to share beloved music with those who’ve yet to discover it.
I’m looking forward to seeing Waxahatchee’s longer set and two Wilco shows this August at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle. Until then, wishing you safe travel wherever life takes you next.
pb&j is definitely the solution, but pb & banana comes close. The only problem is fierce fights may break out over how the banana is sliced: horizontally into circles or lengthwise in half. But never smoosh it into the pb. These home cooked meals on the tour bus DO take some careful thought.
agreed bringing Bananas into the situation elevates it 💯 now I'm thinking about banana chips u know the dehydrated kind for crunch , ps , this may be controversial but once my cousin made me a pb&j sandwich with... get ready for it..mustard! 😍 & u kno what? It was fantastic! pps 💯 classic yellow of course
pps one question Jeff : crunchy or smooth ? & to respond to u don't think I could have a problem with what u do if I tried 🤣 sub question if yer still paying attention: strawberry? Raspberry? Or something with spice like my friend's recipe I like to make called razzamatazz made with jalapeños 🤠 also I was thinking of Challah ideas when this covo happened so I'm 💯 now stuffing pb&j into my Challah bread bites 🤩 I mean I already do cinnamon & chocolate & herbs so why not pb&j! buahaha for the inspo ! 🍒 we'll see how it goes 🤣 🎶 have a good show 2 nite hope the skies clear 🌟 🎶
This is a great read about 2 terrific bands and 1 terrific (extended) family.
Incidentally, the strangest song that brings me to tears lately is "You Should Not be Doing That" by Amyl and the Sniffers.....as the song goes along, I just get so proud of her.
I loved this post! Such a sweet, warm read all around. Thank you for this, Jeff and Spencer.
I truly appreciate the thoughts and information about the alligator photo and the desire for animal visits and companionship on the road. Loving animals too much is a huge weakness of mine (and my daughters). Our house is full of way too many pets. My rational judgement is nonexistent when animals are involved. Just emotion.
Thank you Captain and Spencer for sharing with us; brings me joy! I really appreciated the Waxahatchee set and am so glad to have been at the Saenger show…Captain, Quiet Amplifier made me cry. We had a great evening dancing up close….and appreciated all of it; thank you for singing Cruel Country too!
And I’m with Marianne and you wishing for
a society that rewards “a culture of curiosity and growth.” I do my best (as much as I can) to embody and invite that in my work and my life.
Great questions and answers. Makes for a thoughtful read. Really appreciate the choking up question and reply. Honest feelings and connections are the best.
Thank you, Jeff and Spencer, for taking the time to engage with us like this. It warms my heart to know that you are both getting something meaningful and fulfilling from this time together.
As a music making dad, I love the connection you both share. Hoping Waxahatchee will be opening for Wilco when you come to Vancouver - After 30 years of being a fan, the stars have aligned and I finally have tickets to Wilco!!!
I'm so happy that Wilco is coming back to Pittsburgh after what seems like an eternity! I just wish that Waxahatchee was coming with them. But I'll just have to be happy that I got to see them last year at Carnegie Music Hall -- it was one of my favorite show of 2024!
Such a delightful read. A contemporary father-son love story augmented by music and life on the road. Warm fuzzies for all!
It delights me how sweet your family is. Too rare.

That's great. I too will be taking a Wilco virgin to the upcoming show in Vancouver. There is no doubt in my mind that he will be blown away.
I can't understand a world where a peanut butter and jelly sandwich could be considered a problem? My world is pretty small, I'll grant you that.
💯 agreed pb&j is 💯 always a solution! 🤠🍒
One might argue THE solution? :)

I'm gonna try that, oh yes! Yeah - I don't get it, but makes me wanna get it all the more.

I was literally eating a pb & jelly sandwich when I read Jeff's answer, and your comment! It's a small, funny world, isn't it?
Ain't it tho?

Great q+a! Now I'm on a mission @ the flea market this weekend - find a harmonica!
Great interview! See you in Charlotte and Asheville next week. Cannot wait.

Amazing! It sounds too good to be true!
Enjoyed this immensely. I enjoy a close relationship with my kids & all.
It’s one of the things I got right, hahaha!
