Man! How cool...sobriety anniversaries are tricky for me...my drop date is 2/24/08 or 2/25/08 depending on whom you ask...however, what I’ve found (for myself) just recently around my anniversary, is that it was more of a reckoning than a rebirth. Moment of clarity?!? What does it even mean...you know, those kinds of awesome bedtime questions.
I love the community...I love people like you and Jason Isbell and the likely many others that are very quietly articulating the same message...at least for me as a recovering music fan you are...for me you’ve helped bring dignity to sobriety or wellness or whatever you’d like to call it. You’re pulling in the same direction as us...we’re all just trying to be well!
Happy Anniversary, Jeff. Every year of it is worth celebrating. But you seem to be living your life as if every day is a celebration of your recovery. Good on you. And great for us, as beneficiaries of your creativity and generally outstanding humanity.
And Mark, another fine example of your ability to entertain while informing. Thanks for this chapter in what, I'm sure, will be a great upcoming book. Life at the Loft...and Well Beyond.
Kudos on the sobriety. If anyone here has any advice for people who are struggling, I'd be all ears. I'm sober too but I've got some folks close to me who are needing some support.
I love little details like the cat cutout by the plug. Also, the handle on the whammy bar is a thing of beauty. Thanks for sharing the history. There's more to life than Fender and Gibson (as great as they are).
Congrats on 19 years. Class of '04 here, too. Every day is a gift. 19 years of sobriety is a milestone worth recognizing for all of the blessings that came along with those years. May they continue.

Oh, my, gosh. Loved the video, including the time-capsule images of the audience! And, I was tickled to know to look for the cats on the bands’ guitars. Thanks Mark!!!
Congrats to you Jeff on your anniversary!!! I just passed my 8th month of sobriety after drinking for 42 years straight without a break. Not sure why it took me so long to figure out that alcohol was never my friend, but I’m happy I finally kicked its sorry ass to the curb. 🥳
Congratulations on 19 years. 19 is a good number, to me! Been a long time since I stopped drinking alcohol and very thankful for that. If there's a gene, I got it, and it was often embarrassing! Thanks for the laughs too ( re: hot off..) because I needed one, after a difficult & depressing songwriters demo session! I was told how to sing just a little too much and then they took candid photos to post online (where I look exhausted & in pain haha). Sorry to vent here, but thanks 😸. Enjoyed Gear Talk so much. I want a guitar with a Cat on it now. Maybe I'll try to make one. Thought I knew a lot about Cash & Carters but missed Tommy. Very Interesting. Have a great week everyone.
Those Tomcats were great and so prim and proper with their suits and pristine bow ties!! Thanks for sharing and a big congratulations Jeff on your feat of 19 years! You can always add more! Mark, your knowledge of guitars inside and out is astounding and so interesting!
Glad you shared the sober anniversary. Be proud of that accomplishment, not matter the year. I’ll be happy to hear about your 20th anniversary too!

Iceland minus 4.5 days...

Happy 19 years Jeff! It is quite the accomplishment and very inspiring as well.
Happy Opening Day, yey sport ball !
Hot off lunch. Sounds like a hell of a live DVD.
Keep that Gear Talkin! Should run parallel with every chit chat!
So was the joke that the cable looked like the cat's tail, or that you had to plug it into the cat's butt?
Definitely "Felix The Cat".

Way to go, Jeff! Sobriety is never easy and you SHOULD be proud of yourself.
