Feeling much gratitude after spending two weeks recording with Wilco at The Loft. There will be a lot of material to follow. For the time being, here are a few photos from the last two weeks. The comment box is open—how about some song requests? Or questions for me and Susie to answer?
Jeff- Thank you for giving us a focus to build a community around. Obviously, we come for the music, but it’s your kindness and folk wisdom that keeps us coming back. And Susie too.
If we’re on the topic of gratitude, Jeff, thank YOU for being so open and willing to share all that you share. It is truly a gift. As for song, how about Everything is Free by Gillian Welch. It’s got a vibe that would seem to be in your wheelhouse! Thanks again, Captain!
When performing solo on acoustic guitar you finger pick some songs and on others you have a pick. I never see you put the pick down or pick it up between songs, it's like watching a magician. Where does the pick go and where does it come from?
I would greatly appreciate a cover of a Mark Lanegan song. I am still having a difficult time processing his loss. One of my very favorite musicians. A terrible loss. Harborview Hospital, One Way Street or Stay would be wonderful.
Did anyone else get an email that a Starship Casual coffee mug was being delivered to them? I think a thank you is in order for this.
Thank you for the photos. Eagerly anticipating what the band has in store.
I feel such gratitude for this community, for Wilco and for you, Jeff. I got a little unlucky at Sky Blue Sky on that last Wednesday morning and popped positive for the 'vid. I was just getting tested for the flight home- wasn't feeling sick at all. The resort and festival people took tremendous care of me along with several of my fellow diseased maniacs as we were all placed as neighbors in our own quarantined section of the resort. We were actually pretty much okay- mild symptoms for all (I felt no symptoms). Turns out vaccines and boosters work against severe infection. Who knew?! After a few days of room service and no additional charges of any significance for any of us we all made it safely back to our respective homes. I mention this because many of us (quarantine friends in group text) have stayed in touch and are looking very forward to re-convening at Joe's Field at Solid Sound soon! As far as requests go... how about I Am a Child by Buffalo Springfield? Or Quiet Amplifier or C'mon America?
Thanks for all your music, Jeff. I'm still in the process of a deep dive into Wilco / Tweedy / your solo stuff - buying LPs is expensive - but I haven't been into a new-to-me artist this heavily since I was 19 and first heard Guided by Voices' "Bee Thousand" album. Your work is a gift & I'm glad it exists.
I love seeing all of you in the Loft together, but John looks like he could use some shuteye! We miss the Tweedy Show terribly but this is a beautiful way to keep up that connection that’s so important to us—and how sweet to know that it’s meaningful for you too!
As for covers, I would dearly love to hear your take on Warren Zevon’s Don’t Let Us Get Sick. Or Mutineer. Please and thank you!
Thank you for this!! I absolutely love this loveliest of communities you have created for us. So grateful.
✨✨cANnot wAit✨✨ to hear everything you guys have been working on...I’ve said this before, but I truly hope you get to experience the thrill, anticipation and pure joy of some of your favorite bands announcing such things
Counting the days until the Chicago shows...
::: song request Lay Down Your Weary Tune by Bob Dylan :::
I cannot imagine the beauty that you would put into this song. I get teary dreaming about it.
Would love your review of the Billie Eilish show! It’s crazy to think I requested her on the first Tweedy Show and you played “I Love You” a few nights later. We were totally thinking of you at the show last week :)
Chit-Chat Check-In #27: Gratitude
I’ll go out on a limb here and make a plea for “Senses Working Overtime” by XTC.
Question for you and Susie...do you miss doing the Tweedy Show? (We sure miss y'all!)

I would love to know how Susie's dad is. I miss his stories and jokes and his laughter and tears.
Is he still working on his memoir/autobiography? I hope he is well.
What a better world this is for having you and your family in it. Thank you for your music and wisdom. Thanks to the whole amazing Tweedy family. ❤
Will we possibly get another Tweedy Show sometime in the near future? ❤️ We’re so grateful for all of the time you’ve spent with us.
