Chit-Chat Check-In #26: An interview with Nels Cline

47

Brief interview with Nels in the studio this morning. I always wanted to be a rock writer but you know what they say — all musicians are just failed rock critics.

Later today/tomorrow a new song will go up behind the paywall.

This Week in Wilco, Etc.

1992 / March 7: Uncle Tupelo plays Lounge Ax, with Ween opening. The band covers Gang of Four, The Soft Boys, The Clash, Buck Owens, Teenage Fanclub, The Standells, International Submarine Band, and a Nivana/Monkees medley (“Smells Like Teen Spirit”/”Steppin’ Stone”), alongside originals.

1999 / March 11: Wilco plays a Tower Records in-store in Chicago, which is also broadcast on WXRT. The live set shows up in 2020 on the Summerteeth Deluxe Edition LP, now titled  "An Unmitigated Disaster".

2020 / March 11: Wilco plays Centennial Concert Hall in Winnipeg, Canada. Due to COVID-19, it turns out to be the very last live show of 2020.

Chit-Chat Check-In
These posts will be mostly presented as audio files. In most cases it’ll be just me giving you a little update (i.e. where I am, how things are going, etc.) I hope to also have some Chit-Chat Check-In with other people I’m around (i.e. bandmates, friends, family, strangers — and hopefully the occasional check-in will be with some of you Starship Casual clients, too.)
